Message I know shops have signs stating not responsible for items left in cars, blah,
blah, but they would have a reasonable responsibility for protecting your
car and items that are part of the vehicle, i.e. items wired into it, when it is
in their possession.

Regarding the wing, if it is the original then the above comments are
correct regarding it. If it is an aftermarket wing then it's likely made of
fiberglass that did not have all the air pockets removed when it was made
and when they are heated in the paint booth they expand and bubble. I had
this happen before. Once this happens there is no way to fix it besides
sanding and patching with more fiberglass. However it can be cheaper to
just buy a new spoiler from someplace like Kuruma Z in this instance.

Regarding your small claims possibility, 4 paint jobs is ample time to get
the job right. So if you go get estimates for 3 other shops to "fix" the
problems, you can sue the shop for the amount it would take to correct the
problem by another shop if they will not agree to pay the cost up front.

Not to make this post any longer than it already is but many years ago I
once sued a shop for some shoddy work, of which one issue was that
when I got the car back it would constantly stall. I took it back to the shop
twice and each time they said they fixed the problem of a clogged fuel line,
but each time it was not fixed.

So the third time I took it the Nissan dealer who discovered that parts of
the fuel pump had been blown back into the pump. The previous shop had
tried to "clear the fuel lines using an air compressor and blown the check
valve into the tank!" I paid Nissan to fix the problem, and then sued the
other shop for the cost of the repairs and won.

Good luck.
